Lulu Group Set to Build New Lulu Malls in India, Ahmedabad and Chennai
On January 15, 2024, the UAE-based Lulu Group announced plans to build a new Lulu Mall in India. The new Lulu Mall will be located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The group has decided to build this mall for an estimated cost of Rs.4,000 crores.
According to authorised officials, construction for the Lulu Mall in Ahmedabad will begin in 2024. The group has referred to the upcoming mall as India’s largest shopping mall. The group intends to open another Lulu mall in Chennai.

M.A Yusuf Ali owns the Lulu International Group. He was born in the Thrissur district of Kerela and attended St. Xavier’s High School in Kiranchira. He worked in the import and wholesale distribution of the Lulu Group of Companies, which is owned by his paternal uncle, M K Abdullah. In the early 1990s, he opened the first Lulu Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi.
Today, M.A. Yusuff Ali is referred to as the Middle East retail king. LuLu Group International, which has a revenue of more than $8 billion, owns 255 stores and shopping malls in the Gulf and around the world.

Other News about Lulu Malls in India
Lulu Group International intends to open 12 malls across the country within the next three years. These malls will be located in Noida, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ahmedabad, Tirur, Calicut, Perinthalmanna, Kottayam, Palakkad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The Group plans to invest more than Rs. 19,000 crores in India through these malls, food processing centres, hypermarkets, and related businesses.
According to Shibu Philips, director of Lulu Group India, Uttar Pradesh is an important market for the company. They are currently acquiring land in Varanasi and Prayagraj, with plans to expand to Kanpur later. They are also planning a food processing centre in Uttar Pradesh and have already set aside Rs 500 crore. In addition, they are studying the Noida market and may open a full-fledged mall or hypermarket in a year or two.
Lulu Group also set up a hypermarket in one of Gurugram’s malls. It is currently under construction. In addition, they have a mini-mall and four hypermarkets in Bengaluru that will open within the next two quarters.
